"Vice, Salaciousness, Fetish… these were just some of the words that popped into my head when thinking of the theme for the issue following Faith. What better way to contrast? Not really opposites per say, but one idea associated with the higher virtues and the other often the baseness of society. I feel it quite extreme to use “an immoral or evil habit or practice” to describe the works in this Vice issue. We, however, treat this as an opportunity to expose the secrets or habits of a few while as viewers we can look upon in our voyeuristic fashion.

In the solo interview in this issue, David Ondrik questions UNM graduate student Daniel Coburn on his project Next of Kin that explores his familiy's generational struggles with functional alcoholism, domestic violence, and psychological trauma. In the portfolio features, we showcase Tony Chirinos' project on cockfighting on the island of San Andrés in Colombia, Natalie Krick’s seductive portraits of her mother, Tommy Bruce’s exploration of the furry fandom world, Zoe Nauman’s photographs of the West Oakland underground culture and finally Antone Dolezal introduces us to Chad States series and artist book Trade." -- Melanie McWhorter
